It has now been five months since that historic day in July when the new UK Police Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire was dedicated by HRH the Prince of Wales.
HERO police officers and staff from across the UK will be commemorated in a permanent memorial to be unveiled 28th July at the NMA in Staffordshire.
The Police Arboretum Memorial Trust was saddened to learn of the death of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
Trustees of the UK Police Memorial have decided to honour those officers and staff who have died on duty as well as those who lost their lives in the conduct of their duty.
The family of murdered Met police officer DC Jim Morrison will be carrying out a sponsored walk up The Clisham, an 800m mountain on the Isle of Harris in Scotland, at the week-end (20th/21st October), to raise funds for the new UK Police Memorial.
The campaign to complete the UK Police Memorial was launched recently in partnership with LBC Radio and the Express Newspapers. A number of enquiries have been received about who the UK Police Memorial will commemorate.
Sir Hugh Orde, Chair of the UK Police Memorial Trustees, said: “The selfless actions of Met PC Keith Palmer remind us all that, every day, the brave men and women of our police service are prepared to put themselves in a position of danger to keep us safe and protect us from harm.
The Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum is just one element of our vision. We still need your support to help us complete our work.
