A reflection from the Chair of Trustees

The past year has been one of immense challenges for our police service, including a period of the worst public unrest for a decade following the Southport tragedy, an event which shocked the nation.  In the face of these challenges, our police demonstrated remarkable courage and professionalism. They stepped forward to protect the vulnerable, safeguard our homes, businesses and religious establishments, and uphold the freedoms we hold dear. Despite facing significant risks and injury, they remained steadfast in their duty. These events remind us of the dedication and sacrifices made by our officers every day.

As we prepare for the year ahead, we remain profoundly grateful to the members of our police service who work tirelessly to protect us. Most importantly we honour the memory of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while carrying out their duties.

At the Police Arboretum Memorial Trust, we continue to develop UK Police Memorial’s Digital Remembrance Programme in partnership with the Police Remembrance Trust. A major development for us was the launch of our first themed video tribute dedicated to the 69 women who have been killed in policing over the last 100 years.

Your generosity and commitment enable us to continue our vital work in honouring the sacrifices of those killed in service and commemorating the bravery and dedication of all those from across policing. Together, we can ensure that their legacy is preserved, their contributions are recognised, and their memory lives on.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the very best for the festive season and the New Year.
