In a poignant ceremony held at the House of Commons, the first commemorative leaves cut from the fabric of the UK Police Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum have been presented to the families of ten fallen police officers.
In a ground-breaking initiative driven by feedback from over 200,000 stakeholders, plans are underway for a new digital remembrance programme that will illuminate the life stories of police officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
In my inaugural Christmas message as Chair of Trustees for the Police Arboretum Memorial Trust, I find myself reflecting on the impactful journey we've undertaken throughout the year. It has indeed been a year of significant milestones and heartfelt remembrance.
DEVELOPMENT plans for a world first digital remembrance programme that pays tribute to the 4,500 police officers and staff who have dedicated their lives to policing across the UK will be unveiled today (Thursday, 2nd March 2023) at a special reception at the Tower of London to UK Police Memorial (UKPM) supporters and partners.
They will include the construction of weathered steel walls inscribed with the names of some 1,500 police officers and staff who were killed whilst undertaking their lawful duties.
It has now been five months since that historic day in July when the new UK Police Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire was dedicated by HRH the Prince of Wales.
